12-volt power supply units (IP65/IP68) - unregulated (filtered/smoothed)

The AC mains voltage is transformed by a transformer to the appropriate rectifier input voltage, which is then filtered and smoothed by means of an electrolytic capacitor. Depending on the AC input voltage and DC consumer, the output voltage may vary slightly. The design of these 12V power supply units (IP65/IP68) is robust and limited to the essentials. These 12V power supplies (IP65/IP68) are sufficient for controlling valves, relays, contactors and magnetic switches and for most PLC controls.

12V switching power supplies - SMPS (IP65/IP68)

The 12V switching power supply (IP65/IP68) converts the mains voltage into a regulated 12VDC output voltage, but has a higher efficiency and a smaller size. After filtering and rectification, the AC input voltage is converted into a high-frequency wave-shaped pulsating voltage by a pulse-width modulated semiconductor switch and transformed into the required 12V voltage by means of a transformer on the secondary side. It is then rectified and filtered again. The power supply units of higher power are all equipped with a Power Factor Correction (PFC).
